All wars are fought for simple reasons ..land, resources, etc ... never for idealism... They may cloud it in idealism .. or faith or whatever but it always for land and resources.
What we need is a international issue that effects the entire world ( a natural one ) where we ALL have to focus and work together ... It would take our minds off these petty issues .. of greed and control and worry about survival.People always get along better in crisis. They put aside what was important for what is important. It turn them from reactionary to reactionary.
But it seems even when we have peace, we are not happy either. We will seek something different, it would be a new conflict. We may like to think we are peace seeker or even like to believe we are, but the brutal reality is we are not.
Conflicts are necessary for us to express aggression. We are naturally aggressive, believe it or not. That is how we have managed to remain the top in the food chain.
At any given period in history where there has been extended times of peace they always end in conflict. We would then reach another period of peace. So it is also hard to say which way we favor. But Conflicts and peace are both ways for one purpose, better survival. Thats the basic human instinct. As everything is changing and evolving constantly, none of the states can maintain forever. Yet during this struggle, time after time, the outcome or direction would be stronger species that can adapt to the environment better, in both social and other contexts.
